We are pleased to announce that Mr. Luis Martinez, Multicultural Affairs Director for the City of Orlando, will visit with members of the hottest AFP Chapter in the nation to discuss Diversity in Philanthropy at the luncheon Oct. 16.
Mr. Martinez was appointed to his current position by Mayor Buddy Dyer in January of 2012. His role is based on establishing outreach initiatives with the community as they relate to the needs faced by minorities in Orlando.
Before joining the Mayor’s team, Martinez was the manager of a number of community based initiatives, so he knows how important it is for fundraising professionals to have a good pulse on who is in our community and what they care about.
Some of the topics Mr. Martinez will discuss will include, but are not limited to:
- the unique ethnic makeup of our community
- causes, needs and concerns prominent in the Hispanic community today
- as fundraisers, what we can do to better engage and cultivate support from diverse populations
- opportunities and resources for nonprofit organizations through the City of Orlando
