Getting the Most From Your Membership in 2014

Participation and implementation. Donna Marino’s first speaking engagement with AFP Central Florida Membership as Chapter President at the December 11th luncheon emphasized how to get the most out of your AFP membership.

In her brief acceptance address, President Marino encouraged AFP Central Florida members to align AFP with their organizational and institutional objectives.

To do this successfully, she said, participation is key. She encouraged members to attend monthly meetings, educational sessions, state and international conferences, and local networking events. Members often have hectic schedules so Marino recommended connecting to the Chapters social media sites for timely event updates and resources.

She encouraged members to discover ways to implement the tactics, strategies or tips was shared at each event.  Even if it’s something small; perhaps a change in language? A shift in thinking? Alignment of strategy for efficiency.

In jest she noted that our mental walls get “tacky” when new ideas are coated on them… and that it’s up to us to use what we know and apply our work to that academic adhesive.
